I uploaded the final footage onto You Tube as it is the best place for people to see and respond to my music video. Any comments or responses will go towards my audience research as the video is public anybody can view it so I'm interested to view comments from people I don't know to see how they interpret the music video. It took nearly a hour and a half to upload and I'm not pleased with the quality of the video. As its such a high resolution on the Macs when scales down it doesn't look very impressive. I'm going to try and amend and see if I can covert the video to HD. Wednesday, 29 February 2012
Production- Final stages
The aim for my music video was to keep it simple; the genre itself doesn’t suit over edited shots or transitions. Keep it sleek was the look that I wanted to achieve. I am very pleased with the outcome of my music video and it is almost finished. I have only lightly edited the footage as I think it was dramatic enough. The footage was originally in colour, I knew from creating my storyboard that I wanted the video too be in Black and white. I tinted all of the footage and was very pleased with the outcome; it really enhanced the use of the lighting. The black and white fits in well with the songs feel, the song is fairly depressing but it connotes the old vintage look that I wanted to create (film noir) the video is very much performance, I didn’t want there to be a narrative as I think the lyrics speak for themselves. I personally believe that my film didn’t need any split screens or transitions. There is enough shots to keep the audience interested.

Ancillary Tasks- Poster
It was quite hard to find legitimate posters for Hurts as a majority are fan made. This was the first one I found this is a poster for one of their tour dates at the Mist Club in Malaysia. They have used their original typeface of text but its a shame that Topman text is also roughly the same size. It an event that the Hurts have been featured in. Looking at the poster as a whole I really like the box that the photo is in the dark grey compliments the white text above and the orange circle ties in with the colour scheme of the text bellow. I like the way the opacity has been edited on the circle rather than being just one circular block the light orange tint allows the photo be visible. I don't like the box of blue as I think its a bit to modern compared to the look of the poster if it was a light grey it would still be visible but would blend in better.
This a poster for the Hurts tour in--> Singapore its the same image that was used in the Topman event poster but this image hasnt been edited as much the other image the contrast has been heavily increased. but with this image as you can see its noticibly kept orginal there its quite plain. This is my draft version of the poster, I start with the positives. I really like the shot I have chosen as all the characters are in the frame and it’s an interesting composition as its clear who the main character I as he is in direct mode of address, that eye contact I think is fundamental to catch and hold attention. The dancers are indirect but still there. I added a spot light to the poster to make it clear that it was related to the illuminated video. The downsides to the poster I think is the spot light as it comes from the background and technically in lighting terms my main character should have a shadow behind him not a light on his face this is only a small glitch but overall I am really pleased with the result but it is more of a poster rather than a tour poster, I am thinking that It could look a bit more smarter so this is only a draft copy I plan to develop it further.

Ancillary Tasks- CD Inside right
This is what I chose for my inside cover I think it is important to select an image not as striking as the front or back cover as they are meant to be the most attractive images. For the inside cover I have chosen a still that I took from my music video. It is one of the dancers jumping in slow motion and is seen in the video. I chose this because I thought it was an interesting composition and relates to the the track. Ancillary Tasks- CD Back Cover
This what I was orginally going to use for the back cover, I did quite alot of editing on photoshop to this image because orginally the front cover was going to be the front view of bradley and the back cover a picture of behind him (To the right) but when applying the text on Photoshop to the image it didnt sit very well with the layout so I decided to simplify the back cover.
This is my final CD back cover, I dont like is a much in comparrison to the other image but it does work better as the text sits better and I could included the legal notes bellow.Audience Responses
After I completed my film, I needed audience responses. I have done this in three ways.
I have
- Put my music video 'publicly' on You Tube
- Met a group of girls at school that I don't know to show and get reviews of the music video by giving them all a questionnaire each
- Send the video to my friends on Facebook and gave them some questions to respond to.
I met a group of girls after school at a club at school after I asked a teacher if I could play my music video to them, they all obliged and it was a laugh. The girls at 14+ So they were a bit younger than my target audience but I thought it would be interesting to see what they thought of the video. I gave them a questionnaire about my music video and ancillary tasks to see what they thought of the Digi- Pak too. Most of the comments were positive, but there was some constructive criticism which is what I was after.
I sent the video to some of my closer friends on Facebook, I did this because it is an easy way to ask someones opinion on something like a video. I found my friends wouldn't be as honest as people I don't know but I was still interested to see what people of my age and older (more of my target audience area thought of the video).
Some of the girls questionnaires bellow..
These are the Facebook messages that I sent... I sent to 8 people in total 4 girls 4 boys to get a more varied responses.
